SAVE POLAROID FILM!! [Feb. 27th, 2008|01:04 pm]
Alternative Process and Non-Digital Manipulation

Anyone interested, please sign the following petition to save the production of polaroid film, which Polaroid intends to stop making by the end of 2008:

This is an incredible blow to a HUGE creative community that uses a wide variety of polaroid films for expression and beautiful art!

Fuji produce a small selection of instant materials, but afaik they can't be manipulated. Yes it's a shame, and i understand you for trying, but web petitions don't work, especially those where lots of bods appear to be supporting a product they don't use.

The sales figures are the only ones Polaroid's parent company will take notice of. In the digital age, their niche product has been marginalised. they obviously don't think it's viable to continue production.

However, Harman Technology is looking at a proposal to licence the tech from Polaroid. No promises though. Polaroid want to licence the tech, hopefully someone will pick up the baton. Maybe Fuji will fill the void. Who Knows?

See http://www.apug.org for more. Meanwhile, stock up, cos when it's gone, it's gone. Hopefully not for good.
